Animals have always been a big part of my life. Growing up, I spent more time at the stables, surrounded by horses, dogs, cats, and even goats and donkeys, than I did at home or school! In January 2021, I founded Top Hat and Tails to bring my love for animals into the wedding world—just three months before Boris Johnson announced lockdown.

My first wedding chaperone experience was for free as part of a community competition. During the pandemic, a social media call went out for wedding suppliers to contribute their services for a £30,000 wedding giveaway for NHS workers in Sussex. I jumped at the chance to support, contacting Natalie, the organizer. Together with 30 Sussex-based wedding suppliers, we pulled off a beautiful celebration for Mike and Laura in September 2021. It was such a joy to walk their beloved dog, Baxter, down the aisle as their “guest of honor” and ring bearer.

Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of chaperoning all kinds of furry guests, from Jack Russells to rescue dogs, across Sussex and Surrey.
